Product Information Hussl Alpin / Chair

DESIGN: EOOS

The Hussl Alpin furniture series originated from our fascination with the traditional furniture of the Alpine region. A few years ago, we contributed an article to the cultural magazine Quart  about the “Stube”, the cosy, down-to-earth Alpine version of the parlour room, and the numerous usage scenarios for the simple benches that are typically set along the wall. A contribution for an exhibition at aut. architektur und tirol, the Tyrolean architecture centre, brought us together with Peter Hussl. Together, we explored different standards of the Alpine bench, from the footstool to the veranda bench.

Detail Hussl Alpin

Where we come from, traditional furniture-making is held in high esteem. It is our opinion, however, that this often has very little to do with tradition. This is why we create furniture in which craftsmanship and formal elements are evolved and interpreted in contemporary ways.

From the footstool to the barstool, from the table to the chair – for the Hussl Alpin series, we have combined traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. The precision of computer-controlled machines makes it possible to perfect and vary traditional craftsmanship. We use mortise and tenon joints and reinterpret the classic batten.
